Nakumpiska ng Department of Agriculture ang mahigit 100 kilo ng asukal na nagkakahalaga ng 19 milyon sa Manila International Container Port.

Una nang na hold ang shipment na ito noong November 29,2022 alinsunod sa request ng Office of the Assistant Secretary for Department of Agriculture Inspectorate and Enforcement (DA I&E).

Bago pa man ang inspection, idineklara raw na ang cargo ay mga insulators, surge arresters, slippers outsoles, at styrene butadiene rubber ngunit ito ay isiniwalat na refined cane sugar matapos ang inspection ng DA-IE, Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), Customs Anti-Illegal Drug Task Force (CAIDTF), Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI), and Customs Intelligence & Investigation Services (CIIS).

Sa ngayon, ayon kay Assistant Secretary James Layug, naghahanda na ang Department of Agriculture na magsampa ng pormal na kaso laban sa shipment consignee, ang Burias Jang Consumer Goods Trading dahil sa paglabag nito sa Food Safety Act of 2013 (Republic Act No. 10611) at Anti-Agricultural Smuggling Act of 2016 (Republic Act No. 10845).
