Pumanaw na si Madeleine Albright, ang kauna-unahang babaeng secretary of state ng Estados Unidos.
Inanunsiyo ng kanyang pamilya na binawian ng buhay si Albright dahil sa sakit sa cancer sa edad na 84-anyos.
Kinilala si Albright sa kanyang “trailblazer” at pagiging “visionary” bilang top envoy ng Amerika.
Hinangaan din ito sa iba’t ibang dako ng mundo dahil sa kanyang “compassion for humanity.”
Bilang 64th United States Secretary of State sa pagitan ng taong 1997 hanggang 2001 ay nagsilbi siya sa ilalim ni President Bill Clinton.
Si Albright kasama ang kanyang pamilya ay nag-migrate sa Amerika noong taong 1948 mula sa Czechoslovakia.
Samantala, marami namang mga world leaders ang nagbigay tribute at nagpaabot nang pakikiramay sa mga naiwan ni Albright at sa Amerika.
Kabilang sa kumilala sa malaking kontribusyon ni Albright ay sina US President Joe Biden, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, US President Bill Clinton at dating Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, dating US President Barack Obama, dating US President George Bush at iba pa.
“Madeleine Albright was a force. Hers were the hands that turned the tide of history,” ani Biden. “When I think of Madeleine, I will always remember her fervent faith that ‘America is the indispensable nation.”
“Few of the world’s leaders did so much for our country as Madeleine Albright. Born in Czechoslovakia, she left the dictatorship which sought the lives of her family. She got a chance in the free world, made the best of it. Thank you. We’ll never forget you,” pahayag pa ni Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala:
