BAGUIO CITY – Two people have died after gun shots were fired by a barangay captain in a disco bar located at Calaba, Bangued, Abra on Tuesday morning.
Authorities identified the victims as Elpidio Barbadillo Castillo Jr., 49, owner of the said disco bar and Nonilo Bulledo, 31, both residents of Bangbangar, Bangued.
The suspect was identified as Joel Bayle Mailed, 59, and barangay chairman of Calaba, Bangued.
Initial reports indicate that Mailed and his friends was intoxicated while their van was parked outside Castillo’s bar.
A heated argument happened between Mailed and Castillo when suddenly the suspect shot the latter and Billedo.
Alert Team of Bangued PNP saw the incident and tried to capture the suspect but failed after he pointed his gun to the authorities and fired more gunshots.
Both of the victims were rushed to the hospital but declared dead on arrival while Mailed, who suffered from gunshots pierced through his head and back, remained at the hospital.
Recovered from the crime scene is a 45 caliber pistol, several ammunitions, a deformed slug and two ammunitions of a caliber 9mm.
Authorities believed that miscommunication due to intoxication is the reason behind the incident.
