Zamboanga City – Authorities confiscated 400,000 liters of smuggled fuel in Tawi-Tawi province with an estimated worth of PHP 29.6 million.
Joint Task Force (JTF)-Tawi-Tawi commander, Brigadier Gen. Romeo Racadio said they have received information about the illegal loading of diesel in Lihiman Island.
At the said place, 2 vessels were caught, it was the Marnia Penang foreign-owned vessel loading diesel to Jaslyn Stacy Legazpi a Fililipino-owned motor tanker.
Based on the investigation, 16 crewmen of Marnia Penang sailed from Deojor, Malaysia with 400,000 liters of diesel to unload it at the other vessel from Navotas City.
“They (Sarol and crew) are still waiting for another vessel loaded with additional 200,000 liters of diesel to arrive,” Joint Task Force (JTF)-Tawi-Tawi commander, Brigadier Gen. Romeo Racadio said.
As of now, the two vessels were in the custody of the Philippine Coast Guard for proper disposition.
