On Saturday, March 25, a number of environmental and development organizations have planned events and activities to commemorate Earth Hour.
Sydney, Australia hosted the first Earth Hour in 2007 as a symbolic lights-out occasion. The Earth Hour movement, now in its 16th year, is sponsored by the international charity World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), and this year’s event will highlight the #BiggestHourForEarth to highlight the urgency of addressing climate change’s most pressing issues.
From the campaign’s inception in 2008, the Philippines has led the world in participation and has earned the title of “Earth Hour Hero Country” for its unwavering commitment to the worldwide lights-off movement.
