Manila, Philippines – A total of 21 provinces across the country are bracing for moderate to heavy rainfall (50-100 mm) in the coming days due to the combined effects of the Shear Line and Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), according to Weather Advisory No. 58 issued by PAGASA at 5 a.m. today, December 30, 2024.

Today (December 30):
Heavy rainfall is expected in Cagayan, Apayao, Isabela, Aurora, Quezon, Camarines Norte, Palawan, Sorsogon, Northern Samar, Samar, Eastern Samar, Biliran, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Zamboanga del Norte, Negros Oriental, Siquijor, and Dinagat Islands.
Tomorrow (December 31):
Rains will concentrate on Eastern Samar, Dinagat Islands, and Surigao del Norte.
Wednesday (January 1, 2025):
The rainfall pattern will shift to Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Albay, Sorsogon, Dinagat Islands, and Surigao del Norte.
PAGASA warns that rainfall could be more intense in mountainous and elevated areas and that impacts may be exacerbated by previous rainfall in affected regions.
Advisory to the Public
Residents in vulnerable areas are advised to prepare for potential floods and landslides. PAGASA encourages local disaster risk reduction and management offices to take necessary precautions to protect life and property. Heavy Rainfall Warnings, Rainfall/Thunderstorm Advisories, and localized severe weather bulletins will be issued by PAGASA Regional Services Divisions as needed.
