LAOAG CITY – Authorities confiscated on Friday 3,000 kilos of imported frozen meats in Barangay 6, San Juan Bautista, San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte.
The said meat originally came from Germany and France that was transported by a van from Pampanga to the residence of Rex Basilio.
The van was registered under the name of Sherwin Allan DC Lapuz, a resident of B27 L19E Sorrento Camelia Panipuan, Mexico Pampanga.
Officials from Philippine National Police, Highway Patrol Group and meet inspectors found 147 boxes of 2,655 kilograms frozen meat worth of P318,808.
Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Loida Valenzuela said Basilio has no proper documents to prove that the transportation of such imported meat is legal.
Meanwhile, the driver of the van managed to escape.
