A 6.9 magnitude earthquake hits Southern California on Friday evening, a day after the most powerful 6.4 earthquake shakes the region in two decades.
The newest earthquake’s epicenter was about 10 miles northeast of Ridgecrest, California and about 150 northeast of Los Angeles.
The United States Geological Survey downgraded the quake’s magnitude from 7.1 to 6.9 magnitude and confirmed the epicenter of the temblor struck at 8:20 p.m.
On Thursday, a 6.4 magnitude earthquake was recorded in the same area and was declared as the strongest to hit Southern California since 1999.
The fire district reported one minor injury and said firefighters were treating the patient. “No unmet needs currently,” the fire department said.
