A total of 62 people have been confirmed dead, while three others were rescued after Jeju Air flight 7C2216 crashed at Muan International Airport in South Korea. The aircraft, carrying 175 passengers and six crew members, originated from Thailand and was scheduled to land at the airport around 9:00 AM.
Authorities reported that the plane collided with a wall at the airport, causing severe damage and resulting in the deaths of most of its occupants. As of now, 33 bodies have been recovered from the crash site, and the search for other victims continues.
Responders stated that the number of recovered bodies is expected to increase as recovery operations progress. Meanwhile, the cause of the tragedy remains unclear, and experts are continuing their investigation into the incident.
The management of Boeing, the plane’s manufacturer, and the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) have yet to release any statements regarding the crash. The results of the investigation are awaited to determine possible shortcomings and the cause of the accident.
