KORONADAL CITY – The Philippine Army’s 6th Infantry Division is now focused on making the residents return to their homes at Maguindanao and North Cotabato after weeks of skirmish against terrorist groups.

This was after the military suspended its surgical operation last August 4 against Abu Toraife’s group and the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF).

Lt. Col. Roberto Breboneria, 6th ID’s spokesperson, stated that this is to give way for the recovery status of at least 1,500 families or an estimated 7,500 individuals as they no longer detected presence of terrorist groups on SPMS Box (Saudi Ampatuan, Datu Salibo, Mamasapano, at Shariff Aguak) in Maguindanao.

At least 15 members of BIFF were slain during the air and ground assault of military forces at Shariff Saydona Mustapha, Maguindanao and Pikit, North Cotabato since the encounter erupted last June 25.

One soldier from the military was confirmed killed in action.

Breboneria assured of continued operations and surveillance to maintain peace in the area from the lawless elements.
