Manny Pacquiao claimed that Errol Spence Jr. is a better fighter than Floyd Mayweather Jr. His opponent then reacted to the praises from Pacquiao via a reply to boxingnews.com.
It read: “It is a great compliment. Like I said before, Manny Pacquiao is the kind of guy who will lull you to sleep with a lot of compliments and gratitude and things like that, and suddenly then he’ll be all over you in the ring.”
It seems like Spence (27 wins, 21 knockouts, 0 loss) exactly knew who he is up against. Pacquiao has always been that cool guy outside the ring, but he will shift to his monster form when the fight started and destroy his opponent without mercy.
The duality of Pacquiao is tempting for his opponents, and it sure gave them a lesson, just like what happened to Keith Thurman in 2019.
Indeed Pacquiao never underestimated his opponent, and he sang praises to them, but he is boxing’s only eight-division world champion for a reason.
