Sinimulan na ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) ang pamamahagi ng National Identification System (PhilSys) registration kits sa 32 provincial offices ng Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
Hiniling kasi ni acting NEDA dir. gen. Karl Kendrick Chua ang tulong ng AFP sa pamamagitan kay Defense Secrtary Delfin Lorenzana na bigyan ng logistics support and transportation ang nasa 4,000 registration kits sa 655 siyudad at munisipalidad sa buong bansa.
Layon lamang ng NEDA sa paghingi ng tulong sa AFP na matiyak na safe and secured ang pag-transport sa mga PhilSys registration kits lalo na at limitado pa rin ang inter-island at provincial transportation sa mga probinsiya dahil umiiral pa rin ang community quarantine sa buong bansa.
Ang mga registration kits na – turn over sa AFP mula NEDA noong October 30, ay nai-deliver na sa PSA head sa Diliman, Quezon City kahapon.
Ang PSA naman ang mag-distribute sa mga registration kits sa AFP major services.
Nakatakda naman ito mai-deliver sa mga probinsiya sa November 12.
Ayon sa AFP, ang Philippine Army ang nakatokang magbigay ng logistics support at i-deliver ang mga kits its sa mga PSA provincial offices sa Luzon.
Ang Philippine Navy ay nakatoka sa Visayas, at ang Philippine Air Force naman ay sa Mindanao.
Naniniwala naman si AFP chief of staff General Gilbert Gapay na malaking tulong ang national ID system sa pagpapanatili sa peace and order lalo na at mahihirapan na ang mga criminals, terrorists at iba pang lawless elements na mag-assume ng mga pekeng identities lalo na sa paghasik ng krimen at terorismo sa bansa.
“The National ID System will help us and other law enforcement agencies to curb criminality and terrorism as we can now validate and expose criminals’ identities and prevent them from hiding in other law-abiding citizens’ identity. This will also constrain and lose their freedom of movement, and they will be isolated and unable to transact business as no official identification can be presented when demanded,” pahayag pa ni Gen. Gapay.
Binigyang-diin rin ni Gapay,” the national government may now efficiently distribute and deliver government services to its rightful recipient even in far flung areas. The CTG’s can no longer use the inefficient delivery of government services as a reason to deceive and recruit unknowing Filipinos.”
