After reportedly touching a beauty queen at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), a police officer was detained on Friday.
The arrested officer was a patrolman of the Philippine National Police – Aviation Security Unit (PNP-AVSEU) NCR, the unit’s chief PCol. Roderick Campo said.
The cop was nabbed after the victim, a beauty queen, filed a complaint against him for breaking Republic Act 11313, better known as the “Bawal Bastos Law,” or the Safe Places Act.
According to Campo, the complainant was waiting for a taxi home after arriving at NAIA Terminal 3 on a trip from Caticlan when the officer reportedly groped her behind.
“Habang nag-aantay ng taxi, may dumaan sa likod niya. Unfortunately it was found out na ito po ay isang member namin,” Campo said.
He continued by saying that the victim had asked for the PNP’s aid and an examination of the nearby security tapes.
“Upon viewing of the CCTV, nakita po natin sa na may lapses o may ginawa pong mali yung tao natin kaya he was immediately arrested,” he said.
The PNP-AVSEU is currently holding the suspect, who was purportedly a rookie police officer. He chose not to respond to questions about it.
