Inatasan ngayon ng Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) ang lahat ng mga local government units (LGUs) na ‘wag namang pigilan ang daloy ng negosyo at komersiyo na may kaugnayan sa mga processed meat products.
Una na kasing nagpatupad ang mga LGUs ng mga hakbang upang higpitan ang mga lugar para hindi na kumalat pa ang African swine fever (ASF).
Sa Memorandum Circular ni DILG Secretary Eduardo Año sa mga governors, city at municipal mayors, at mga punong barangays, ay inatasan niya ang mga ito na tanggalin na ang mga ban sa mga processed meat products na may karne ng baboy lalo na kung nakasunod naman ang mga ito sa panuntunan ng Department of Agriculturem (DA).
Inihalimbawa pa ng DILG ang mga corned beef, beef hotdogs, chicken nuggets, chicken hotdogs at iba pa bilang bahagi na rin ng proteksiyon sa mga stakjeholders at mga consumers.
Samantala may paalala naman ang mga eksperto lalo na ang Philippine Association of Meat Processors na ang paglito sa mga delatang karne o canned meat products ay dapat ang init ng apoy ay sa 116 degrees Celsius sa loob ng 60 minutes, habang sa mga hotdogs, hams, at bacon ay maaring i-process o lutuin o smoked sa init ng temperature ng 72 degrees centigrade sa loob ng isang oras.
Doon naman sa mga smoked o pagluto sa mga pork sausages, kung maaari raw ay sa core temperature ng 72 degrees centigrade sa loob ng 40 minutes.
“Since the government has been acting aggressively and effectively to address the ASF outbreak, we are urging all LGUs to lift the ban on processed meat products containing pork for as long as the products meet certain conditions imposed by the Department of Agriculture,” Sec. Año. “Upon demand by LGU quarantine officials, the Certificate of Product Registration of processed meat products issued by the Food and Drug Administration to the manufacturers may be shown to LGUs. This should suffice to allow movement and distribution to all provinces.”
