MANILA – House Appropriations Committee chairman Rolando Andaya Jr. challenged Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III on Tuesday to name senators behind budget cuts for major government programs and projects under the General Appropriations Bill.
This was after Sotto called Andaya and some members of the House of Representatives “delusional.”
Instead of calling names, Andaya asserted that Sotto should stop diverting public attention.
“The Senate President need not consult the dictionary in search of more pompous words,” said Andaya.
The Senate, he noted, made “drastic” budget cuts not only of Build, Build, Build projects but also of pension for uniformed personnel and retirement benefits of government employees.
According to the congressman, Senate should divulge the items where the budget cuts were realigned.
Andaya earlier hit back the Upper House for allegedly “sabotaging” the proposed budget after it “unilaterally decided” to cut the allocation for priority programs and projects of the Duterte administration.
But Sotto argued that they introduced the budget cuts, as well as the realignments, on the floor.
