The Mobile Police Department has issued an arrest warrant for Los Angeles Lakers center DeMarcus Cousins over a third-degree harassing communication charge made to his ex-girlfriend.

According to the MPD’s website, the charge carries a maximum sentence of 1 year behind bars though it did not disclose more information about the case.

Authorities issued the warrant one day after an audio was published made by Christy West, Cousin’s ex-girlfriend and mother of his 7-year old son, where the NBA star allegedly threatened his former partner to “put a bullet through her f***ing head” after she refused to allow their son to attend Cousin’s wedding last weekend.

West lives in Alabama and the wedding took place in Atlanta.

The NBA and Lakers both released statements saying that they are now investigatin into the allegations.

“We are aware of the allegation involving DeMarcus Cousins and, of course, take this claim seriously,” the Lakers said in a statement. “We are in the process of gathering information and will reserve further comment at this time.”
