The 39 year old and undisputed light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev (21-0, 20 KO) is not interested in fighting Canelo Alvarez after his victory vs Dmitry Bivol last October 12, 2024 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Canelo called out Artur after defeating Bivol but the latter did not respond.

“When Canelo has a belt in my division, then I’ll want to fight him. Even if that moment comes, I still don’t think I’d want to face him. I’m yet. really not interested in a fight with Canelo,” Artur said last September 2024 when asked if he will fight Canelo at 175.

There is no specific reason why Beterbiev rejected Canelo. It can be recalled that Canelo lost to Bivol last May 2022 via a unanimous decision in a 12-round bout.

Meanwhile, Artur and Canelo common opponents gave predictions about Alvarez vs Beterbiev if ever they will fight.

Caleb Plant said that he does not know because two fighters have different styles. Callum Smith added “I Expected More”.

Beterbiev is the only current champion in boxing with a 100% stoppage rate. He has the WBA, WBC, IBF, and WBO light heavyweight titles.

As of this writing Canelo will have a rematch with Bivol in May 2025.
