Naniniwala si United States Pres. Donald Trump na mas takaw panganib na ngayon ang Amerika kaya dapat na paangatin na rin ang antas ng depensa nito.
Ito ang mensahe ng Pangulo kasabay ng paglulunsad sa bagong Pentagon command para sa space warfare ng bansa at ika-anim na branch ng US military.
“The dangers to our country constantly evolve and so must we.”
Sa pamamagitan ng SpaceCom, inaasahan na mabibigyan ng kaukulang pansin ang pagmo-monitor sa mga galaw at armed conflict ng ibang estado.
“This is a landmark day, one that recognizes the centrality of space to America’s security and defense,” ani Trump.
“SpaceCom will ensure that America’s dominance in space is never threatened.”
Ang naturang inisyatibo ng US ay katumbas ng kanilang Central Command sa Middle East; at Pacific Command sa Western Pacific at Asia.
“Our adversaries are weaponizing earth’s orbits with new technology targeting American satellites that are critical to both battlefield operations and our way of life at home.”
“Our freedom to operate in space is also essential to detecting and destroying any missile launched against the United States.”
Ayon kay Trump, bunsod din ito ng mga nakitang hakbang ng China at Russia para pabagsakin ang advantage ng Amerika sa mga bagong military frontier.
Itinalaga si US Air Force Gen. John Raymond bilang lider ng SpaceCom.
“We are at a strategic inflection point where there is nothing that we do as a joint coalition force that isn’t enabled by space,” ani Raymond. (AFP)
