The Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) confirmed that eight pig blood samples from two barangays in Quezon City were positive for African swine fever (ASF).
A total of 45 hog blood samples from Barangay Bagong Silangan and Payatas were submitted to BAI for examination.
As of now, the agency still awaits the other 30 blood samples.
A culling operation was done to 166 pigs from the said barangays after the hogs turned out to be positive from the disease.
Based on the latest data from Department of Agriculture (DA), the industry lost almost P260 billion worth of pigs following the ASF outbreak.
