According to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, the P150 banknote picturing Dr. Jose Rizal has not been released.
“Images of the said banknote circulating on social media are fictitious,” the central bank said in a statement.
The BSP asked the public to verify the accuracy of any banknotes and coin-related material they may have found on social media and other websites.
To verify, consumers can visit the Notes and Coins section of the BSP’s website.
The public can also contact the SP Payments and Cash Investigation Group through phone at +63-2-8988-4833 and +63-2-8926-5092 to report individuals involved in the production and/or distribution of fake Philippine currency.
Prior to this, the BSP issued P150 limited edition coins to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the matrydom of Catholic priests’ Mariano Gomez, Jose Burgos, and Jacinto Zamora or Gomburza.
