“The version of the bill approved by the House set the next barangay and SK elections on the first Monday of December 2023 while the Senate version slated it for the second Monday of December 2023. Instead of holding the elections on December 2023, the bicameral conference committee reached a consensus to reschedule the barangay and SK polls two months earlier, or on October 2023,” bahagi ng statement.
Samantala si House Speaker Martin Romualdez ang tumayong main author sa SIM Registration Act na naunang inaprubahan sa House of Representatives (House Bill No. 14), kasama sina Reps. Ferdinand Alexander “Sandro” Marcos, Tingog party-list Reps. Yedda Marie K. Romualdez at Jude Acidre bilang mga co-authors.
“This may be the first of the many legislative measures that will be signed and enacted into law by President Marcos, Jr. in his six years of office,” ani Speaker Romualdez sa statement. “This Act will not only help promote responsibility in the end users of SIMs for electronic devices but also provide our law enforcers the necessary tools to resolve crimes involving telecommunication devices.”
