The authorities are still investigating the identity and nationality of Jan Erick Lavarias Altavas, believed to be the owner of a Philippine Offshore Gaming hub that was shut down by Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) on Thursday, October 17.

BIR Deputy Commissioner Arnel Guballa and Department of Finance Asec Tony Lambino personally locked the Altech Innovations Business Outsourcing inside Double Dragon located in Pasay City.

Based on investigation, the said POGO hub did not register as VAT taxpayer which resulted to P100 million tax violation.

The company has atleast 1,000 Chinese employees which also has another branch in Parañaque City, Guballa confirmed.

“Dapat pantay pantay, Filipino or foreigner, they should be paying their taxes here in the Philippines kasi we need these revenues for nation building, especially sa Build, Build, Build project of the administration,” said Guballa.

Asec. Lambino also noted the responsibilities of foreign workers employed in the Philippines.
