Official said that at least 14 people were killed in a brazen armed attack on a prison in the border city of Juarez, Mexico.
In a statement. the Chihuahua state attorney general’s office said that 10 security guards, four convicts were killed and 13 other people were injured
The attack started seven in the morning (9 a.m. ET) on Sunday when a gunman in armored trucks entered the prison and started shooting at security guards.
24 detainee allegedly took advantage of the situation and escaped.
It was not clear who was responsible for the attack.
The incident was not the first time erupted at the prison. Violence has broken out at the facility before, last August. Hundreds of Mexican soldiers were sent there in August of last year after a shootout between the two cartels resulted in a riot and the deaths of 11 people. (Reports from Bombo Kelly Cordero)
