Portland Trail Blazers star CJ McCollum will miss the next four weeks after a hairline fracture was found on his left foot.
He suffered the injury after their victory against the Atlanta Hawks. He was initially evaluated for one week, and after further imaging, the injury was seen worse than expected.
It will be a setback for the combo guard who is having a career year in different statistics.
McCollum is currently averaging 26.7 points per game, five assists per game, and 1.3 steals while shooting 62 percent from the field.
The injury will be a big blow to the Blazers, who is riding above .500 win percentage while swinging to the rhythm McCollum is bringing to them.
His partner Damian Lillard now has a more significant load to carry early in this season. They need to remain afloat despite missing one of the league’s prolific scorers.
According to the Blazers McCollum’s official Twitter account, it will not undergo surgery but will wear a walking boot before being re-evaluated after a month.
