The Bureau of Customs assured to strengthen intelligence and simplify their process with assistance from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
In a statement, the BPC-Port of Clark said they held a coordination meeting with the PDEA on July 18 to identify strategies to improve.
According to the bureau, the meeting addressed steps to further intensify coordination between the two agencies, improve and simplify illegal drug suppression procedures, and strengthen the capacity of frontline personnel.
BOC-Port of Clark District Collector Ricardo Morales II, on the other hand, praised the PDEA for its efforts to assist the BOC in fighting illegal drug smuggling attempts.
Morales added that strict measures and cooperation resulted in a large number of illegal drug busts this first half of the year.
Since January, the BOC-Port of Clark has so far seized illegal substances valued at around P125 million.
The BOC had earlier pledged to step up inter-agency and regional cooperation to prevent the entry of illicit drugs into the country’s borders.
