BAGUIO CITY – The family of slain barangay kagawad of Pilar, Abra appealed for justice and expressed belief that politics could be behind the killing of their kin yesterday.
Police identified the victim as Feliciano Macasiray Tobias, 58 years old, barangay councilman of Barangay Kinabiti, Pilar, Abra.
Tobias is reportedly an active supporter of Pilar mayoralty candidate Dr. Amor Trina Dait who is running against four other candidates aspiring for the said post.
Investigation showed that victim left their house at dawn yesterday to visit his tobacco curing barn, however after an hour, successive gunshots were heard by residents near the road where Tobias was killed.The victim was found dead beside his motorcycle wherein he sustained multiple gunshot wounds
Investigators recovered four empty shells of M-14 armalite rifle and another five from M16 rifle.
Abra acting Police Provincial Director Col. Alfredo Dangani, ordered thorough investigation on the case to bring the perpetrators to and probe possible connection to the upcoming May 13, 2019 midterm elections.
