Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) explained their reason behind the revocation of privileges for convicts on the seven penal colonies in the Philippines, most especially in New Bilibid Prison.

For the time being, approximately 45,000 convicts are in penal institutions.

BuCor chief Director General Nicanor Faeldon said that this is due to the continuous smuggling of contraband inside the jail.

Along wih this, BuCor will also not allow visiting hours including any means of their entertainment.

Faeldon also expressed his dismay because of the endless illegal activities even though he already communicated with the leaders inside the prison.

One of the reasons for the said declaration is also because of the subsistence transaction of drug convict Rustico Ygot with his contacts in Cebu, which prompted the police to transfer him in a preventive cell where he will be monitored.
