Canelo Alvarez (59-2-2) promoter Eddie Hearns is disgusted after the poor performance of unified light middleweight world champ Jermell Charlo (35-1-1) against the Mexican champ in Las Vegas last September 30.
Hearns, a British sports promoter who is chairman of Matchroom Sport and Professional Darts Corporation, noticed that the whole upper deck of the arena has no audience.
He believed that fans were disappointed too after watching the said fight. He said that even his twin Jermall Charlo does not deserve the Mexican superstar.
Hearns stressed in a press conference that Canelo’s challenger Jermell was idle for 17 months with no big fights at all except that fight.
“… but I think Saul probably wanted it a bit more than Charlo. He just went into a shell and tried to survive, and it was just weird. Very poor.” Hearns explained to the press.
Meanwhile, Alvarez retained the undisputed title after he knocked down Charlo in round 7.
Moreover, Canelo is urged to fight the winner between David Benavidez (WBC Interim Super Middleweight champ) and Demetrius Andrade (WBO middleweight champ) who will clash on November 24 this year.
