Cardema, Duterte Youth nominees may face detention says Guanzon

Commission on Elections (Comelec) Commissioner Rowena Guanzon said that former National Youth Commission (NYC) chair Ronald Cardema may face detention together with the other nominees of Duterte Youth party-list.

Cardema, and the other nominees, had allegedly misinterpreted their Certificate of Nomination (CONA) for the 2019 polls, according to Guanzon.

Under the Party-list System Act, a nominee of the youth sector must not be 30 years old or above on the day of the election.

The polls’ law department is currently investigating for two counts of said violation, the penalty for which is “quite high.”

Duterte Youth may also be disqualified after threatening Guanzon’s family.
