Dismayado umano si Taguig Rep.-elect Alan Peter Cayetano kay Marinduque Rep. Lord Alan Velasco dahil sa umano’y pagbawi nito sa nauna nang napagkasunduan na term-sharing deal para sa pagka-House Speaker sa 18th Congress.
Sa isang pahayag, sinabi ni Cayetano na naisapinal na raw ang term-sharing agreement noong Lunes ng gabi kasabay ng thanksgiving party ng Hugpong ng Pagbabago.
Ayon kay Cayetano, si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte raw ang mismong nagsulong ng posibilidad ng term sharing bilang “win win solution” upang maresolba ang isyu sa House speakership.
Gayunman, nananatili pa rin daw ang suporta ni Cayetano kay Pangulong Duterte at iginiit na nagtitiwala at iginagalang nito ang karunungan ng presidente.
“I confirm that there was already an agreement in principle last Monday night. I want to reiterate that I am committed to support and follow the President as he in many occasions mentioned term sharing between myself and Cong Velasco. I trust and respect the President’s wisdom,” saad ni Cayetano.
“It is for this reason that I am deeply disappointed that after we both expressed full agreement with the President’s proposal, Rep Velasco and his wife are now making a turn around and won’t honor [the] President’s wishes.”
Una nang sinabi ni Pangulong Duterte na si outgoing House Speaker Gloria Macapagal Arroyo na lamang daw ang bahala sa pagpili ng papalit bilang pinuno ng Kamara.
