KALIBO, AKLAN- The Provincial Health Office (PHO) Aklan is currently investigating 11 Chinese tourists due to their possible exposure from novel coronavirus.

The tourists, which consist of 7 adults and 4 children, were brought to a hotel owned by the local government at Gov. Corazon L. Cabagnot Tourism and Training Center in Old Buswang, Kalibo, Aklan for observation.

The patients arrived in Kalibo from Hong Kong on January 22.

Dr. Cornelio Cuachon Jr. of PHO-Aklan said that four of these tourists had close contact with an infected patient from Hong Kong.

They were traced in a resort in Boracay with the help of Hong Kong authorities who alerted the Philippines’ health officials right away.

After 14 days incubation period, the said tourists will be sent back to China and will not be allowed to visit continue their vacation in the country.

Dr. Cuatchon also added that they decided to bring the patients in a hotel in fear of hospital-acquired pneumonia if they will be admitted to a public hospital.
