Nanawagan na rin ang Commission on Human Rights upang tuluyan nang matuldukan ang anomang uri ng gender-based violence (GBV)

Sa isang pahayag, sinabi ni CHR Commissioner Karen Gomez Dumpit na buo ang kanilang suporta sa online rally laban sa gender-based violence, gayundin ang inilunsad na 18-day campaign para wakasan na ang karahasan sa mga kababaihan.

“The CHR calls for the need to eliminate all forms of GBV during a period of acute crisis and want, the need to demand for accountability from duty bearers, not only in ensuring effective, prompt, and survivor centered response, but a commitment to desist from and prevent all forms of GBV,” ani Dumpit.

Binigyang-diin din nito ang kahalagahan ng mainstream GBV response sa kabila ng nararanasang COVID-19 pandemic at epekto ng mga nagdaang bagyo.

Dapat din aniya na pagtuunan ng pansin ang psychological at emotional violence, maging ang institutional at structural violence, dahil ang mga ito ang nagreresulta sa hirap, gutom, injustice, exclusion at denial ng access sa mga resources.

“We also need to address the roots of violence — the persistence of gender inequality and gender stereotypes; and we need to work with men and with different institutions towards gender equality and the elimination of VAW,” dagdag pa nito.

Ginawa ni Dumpit ang naturang pahayag matapos gunitain ang International Dar for the Elimination of Violence Against Women noong Nobyembre 25, araw ng Miyerkules.
