Wala umanong katiyakan kung maglalaro pa sa PBA si Barangay Ginebra center Greg Slaughter sa muling pabubukas ng liga makaraang magsara ito ng ilang buwan dahil sa coronavirus pandemic.
Ayon kay Ginebra coach Tim Cone, hindi raw ito nakakuha ng sagot mula kay Slaughter nang subukan niya itong kausapin matapos na mamahinga ito sa paglalaro sa liga noong Pebrero.
“We tried to contact him a couple of times, he hasn’t responded. So we don’t know if he’s going to come back, but we know just like everybody else he’s working out,” wika ni Cone.
“The last we heard, he’s going to make a tryout with the NBA G League. I don’t know if that’s true, I heard that from a third party. But there’s no G League this year. G League will probably start maybe April next year,” dagdag nito.
Matatandaang umalat ang ugnayan ng Ginebra at ni Slaughter nang mabigo ang manlalaro na makakuha ng contract extension sa koponan.
Kung hindi na maglalarong muli si Slaughter, inaasahang malaking adjustment ang ipatutupad ni Cone sa Gin Kings para mapunan ang nabakante nitong pwesto.
“It’s gonna be tough because he can be a force at times and it’s just really tough having something ripped away from you like that without having being given anything in return,” ani Cone.
“But we’ll find ways to replace him, maybe a little more Japeth (Aguilar), maybe a little bit more Stanley (Pringle), maybe Prince Caperal steps up, we have other options.”
