MANILA – Kinumpirma ng Malacañang na mismong si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang nag-utos na magpulong ang mga miyembro ng Partido Demokratiko Pilipino Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) sa Lunes, May 31.
Kasunod ito ng tensyon sa pagitan nina PDP-Laban president Sen. Manny Pacquiao, at vice-chairman na si Energy Sec. Alfonso Cusi.
“This move, which is part of the democratic exercise, aims to consult party members and have fruitful and productive exchanges on issues affecting PDP-Laban,” ani Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque.
Si Duterte ang chairman ng partido.
Noong nakaraang Huwebes nang pagsabihan ni Pacquiao ang mga miyembro ng PDP-Laban na huwag dumalo sa ipinatawag na council meeting ni Cusi dahil kailangang may approval ng party chairman at president ang pagtitipon.
“You might have received Vice Chairman Alfonso Cusi’s letter calling for a national assembly on May 31, 2021… all concerned Partymates are strongly advised to ignore the letter,” ani Pacquiao.
“Any call for a national council, assembly, or meeting must be approved by the both Chairman and the President only,” dagdag ng senador.
Hindi naglabas ng pahayag si Cusi, pero ayon sa Palasyo, inatasan ni Duterte ang Energy secretary na magpatawag ng meeting.
Ayon naman kay PDP-Laban National Executive Director Ron Munsayac, walang natanggap na “formal communication” mula kay Duterte ang mga miyembro ng partido, kaya hindi sila naniniwala sa pahayag ni Roque.
Hihiling daw ng meeting si Pacquiao kay Duterte para mapag-usapan ang mga agenda para sa lehitimong council meeting.
Ani Munsayac, magaganap lang ang national council meeting ng PDP-Laban, isang buwan bago ang filing ng certificate of candidacies sa Oktubre, o depende sa gusto ni Duterte.
“Its very clear that only the chairman (President Duterte) in coordination with the Party president (Manny Pacquiao) can call on the Party’s National Council and/or Assembly,” ayon sa opisyal.
