Based on the Statement of Assets Liabilities and Networths (SALN) of the senators for taxable year 2018, Villar’s reported net worth of P3,719,941,858 with no liabilities. Villar’s wealth grew from P3,611,260,766 in 2018.
Former senator and House speaker Manny Villar, Sen. Cynthia Villar’s husband, was declared as the richest man in the country last 2019 with a net worth of P287 billion.
Vista Land, the biggest home builder in the Philippines is owned by the Villar family. They also own the shopping-center developer Starmalls as well as the housing and condominium developer Golden Bria Holdings.
Second to the list is world-boxing champion-turned Senator Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao with P3,005,808,000 billion. This is higher than his net worth of P2.946 billion in 2017.
Villar and Pacquiao are the only billionares in the Senate 17th congress.
The third richest senator is Senate President Pro Tempore Ralph Recto with a declared net worth of P555 million.
Fourth on the list is Senator Majority leader Juan Miguel Zubiri with a net worth of P182 million.
Meanwhile, opposition Sen. Antonio Trillans IV and Sen. Leila De Lima have the lowest declared net worth in the Senate.
Trillanes had a total assets of P15,909,800 and P8,376,787.90 in liabilites.
De Lima declared a net worth of P7,706,392.45 in 2018 which is lower than her total assets of P7.94 million in 2017.
