Naglabas ng temporary ban ang Department of Agriculture (DA) sa pag-aangkat ng domestic at wild pigs, pork products, at by-products mula Germany kasunod ng kumpirmasyon ng African Swine Fever (ASF).
Sa pahayag ng DA, kinumpirma ng Friedrich-Loeffler-Institut (National laboratory) ang unang kaso ng ASF sa Schenkendöbern, Spree-Neiße, at Brandenburg, na nakakaapekto sa mga baboy-ramo.
Ito ay batay sa official report na isinumite ni Dr. Dietrich Rassow, director for animal health and animal welfare, chief veterinary officer, Directorate of Animal Health and Animal Welfare, Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture, Berlin, Germany, sa World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) noong Setyembre 10.
Kasabay nito, nag-isyu rin si DA Sec. William Dar ng agarang suspensyon sa pagproseso at evaluation ng aplikasyon at issuance ng sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) import clearance sa mga domestic at wild pigs, pork products, at by-products mula Germany.
“Hence, all shipments of pigs, pork and pork products from Germany into the Philippines will be confiscated by all DA-Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) veterinary quarantine officers at all major ports of entry,” saad ng DA.
