Nakaabang na umano si dating WBC welterweight champion Danny Garcia sakaling alukin ito ng laban ni Pinoy ring legend Sen. Manny Pacquiao.
Ayon kay Garcia, nabigla raw ito nang magapi ng 40-anyos na si Pacquiao ang 30-anyos na si Keith Thurman sa bakbakan ng dalawa sa Las Vegas.
“I mean, I thought I was gonna fight him this time,” wika ni Garcia. “From what I knew, I thought I was supposed to fight him when he fought Thurman. But let’s see. Let’s see. Let’s see. I’m ready.”
Matatandaang interesado si Pacquiao na isunod ang sinumang magwawagi sa unification bout nina Errol Spence Jr. at Shawn Porter sa Setyembre 28.
Inihayag na rin noon ni Coach Freddie Roach na aalma raw ito sakaling si Spence ang magwagi at mapisil na harapin ni Pacquiao dahil sa mas malaki at mas malakas umano ang American slugger.
Dahil dito, maaaring mabigyan ng tsansa si Garcia na makalaban si Pacquiao, na posibleng bumalik sa ibabaw ng ring sa susunod na taon.
Giit ni Garcia, kumpiyansa raw ito na magiging maganda raw ang match up nila ng fighting senator.
“You know, if you look at the past fighters he had trouble with – like [Juan Manuel] Marquez, [Erik] Morales – those guys are counter-punchers,” ani Garcia. “And that’s one of my strengths in boxing. I’ve got that good power in both hands, I’m a good counter-puncher and I’ve got good timing. So, I think those are three things that’ll give Manny Pacquiao hell in his career. And those are three things I possess, so I definitely think that’s a great matchup for me.”
