Mariing inalmahan ni Sen. Leila de Lima ang paglutang sa Senado ng dalawang dating opisyal ng Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) na si dating OIC Rafael Ragos at Jovencio Ablen Jr.
Ang dalawang ito ay nasa ilalim ng Witness Protection Program (WPP), makaraang idiin si De Lima sa drug cases na kinakaharap nito, kaya siya nakakulong.
Maging ang ilang kasamahan sa Senado na nagsalang bilang resource person kina Ragos at Ablen ay binatikos din ng detained senator.
Partikular na binuweltahan nito si Sen. Richard Gordon, na nagmistulang narrator pa raw ng testimonya ng dalawang resource person.
“It was also reported to me that Ragos did not even have to narrate his testimony. Rather than questioning Ragos and Ablen to let them testify, it was Sen. Gordon himself who read out loud the false and malicious imputations against me. Ragos and Ablen ended up mechanically confirming what Sen. Gordon read. Sen. Tolentino even attempted to have Ragos confirm prior fake stories which were already debunked,” wika ni De Lima.
Sinabi pa ng senadora na bilang miyembro ng Senado, nagkaroon man lang sana ng delicadeza ang kaniyang mga kasamahan sa mga ganitong hakbang.
“I guess parliamentary courtesy, delicadeza, even basic human decency is out the window in the halls of the Senate,” dagdag pa ni De Lima.
