KORONADAL CITY – Department of Health Region 12 (DoH) expressed alarm over the recorded more than 4,000 cases of dengue during the first quarter of 2019.
The numbers drastically spiked to 178 percent from 1,449 cases in the region in the same period of the year.
According to Jenny Ventura, dengue and measles prevention program spokesperson of DoH-12, most of these cases were recorded in North Cotabato (1,444); South Cotabato (1,192); and Sultan Kudarat (480).
The health department also confirmed deaths due to dengue wherein seven of these are from North Cotabato and three each in Sarangani and South Cotabato.
With this, the health department reiterated its appeal to the community to maintain sanitation in their surroundings to prevent the increase of dengue-carrying mosquitoes.
