Oklahoma City Thunder guard Dennis Schroder is currently outside the NBA bubble in Orlando, Florida to attend his wife on giving birth to their second child.
The news was confirmed by head coach Billy Donovan.
Schroder already made the statement of leaving the bubble even before the NBA official made the restart.
He is the back-up point guard of All-Star Chris Paul and a candidate to win this season’s Sixth Man of the Year award averaging 18.9 points and four assists per game.
While his absence may not greatly affect his team’s bid to make it to the playoffs as they currently sit on the sixth spot with 41 wins and 25 losses, they may still fall down to seventh spot as they are only 2.5 games ahead against the Dallas Mavericks.
However, Schroder insisted that his family will always come first especially with the current pandemic.
“I love my teammates. I love basketball. But family comes first all the time.”
