“The gown is very high fashion. Everything is done by hand. I am employing my technique — yung technique na Cary Santiago. Yung mga fashionista, when they will see it on stage, they will directly identify it as mine.”
Excited ring ibinahagi ng designer ang ilan sa mga stand-out characteristics ng 23-year-old beauty queen, mula pa lamang noong Binibing Pilipinas.
“Si Gazini ang pinakamabait, that’s why I am supporting her. She’s the nicest. That’s one of her best assets. Napakasimpleng tao. Napaka down-to-earth. Very nice, genuinely nice, kaya when she asked me to dress her up during the Binibining Pilipinas, I readily agreed. [What makes her stand out] is her performance on stage, and her candidness. Because even during the Binibining Pilipinas, she was just there to represent Cebu, tapos nanalo siya. She was just having fun on stage, kaya she was surprised when she was called na Miss Photogenic and Best in Long Gown, and finally the winner.
Most of the time, nag runner up lang siya kaya parang [she embodies] yung phoenix. Parang with all her failures, she made it in Atlanta.”
“You know, Gazini wants to go against the grain eh. She doesn’t want a pageant gown. She doesn’t want it glittery. She just wants to look elegant.”
“First of all, the back to back is really suntok sa buwan. Before umalis si Gazini, we told her to just have fun on stage. This was given to you. You were chosen to represent the Philippines. I also told her don’t mind these bashers. So just have fun on stage. It’s enough, win or lose. My prayers is makapasok lang siya sa Top 10, okay na yun. If papasok siya sa Top 6 or eventually manalo, it’s a bonus. Kung manalo man, fate na talaga yun. Kung para sayo, para sayo. If it’s really for her, this is not just the gown eh. When you are judged, they can identify an elegant woman even if she is wearing the simplest one, right? This is not just about what she is wearing, but if she will do good in her interview, preliminary or yung mga activities nila, they will already see the rough diamond. Yun yung kokoronahan.”
“Sa mga kababayan natin, thank you for supporting Gazini. Win or lose, siya pa rin yung Miss Universe natin because I think [she is really representing us well]. In fact, she is the most popular of the contestants in Miss Universe now. In my part, I have given enough strength para maging maganda yung gown. Not so simple, not so fabulous. In the middle of the road, just to complement Gazini’s personality. Good luck to all of us and to Gazini, and I hope we’ll all pray na magiging successful yung laban natin, because this is for our country.”
Gaganapin ang Miss Universe 2019 pageant sa December 9 kung saan tatangkain ni Gazini ang first back-to-back win para sa Pilipinas.
