Tripoli Libya elmer cato

CAUAYAN CITY – Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) sent a rapid reaction team in Libya to assist in the mandatory repatriation of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) as violence escalated in the ongoing civil war.

In Bombo Radyo Cauayan’s interview with Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III, he said that mandatory repatriation is already being enforced after DFA raised alert status to level 4 in Tripoli and nearby areas following the intensive fighting around the capital Tripoli.

Bello appealed to the OFWs to report to the Philippine Embassy in Tripoli as the tension intensifies in Libya.

The Labor chief said that aside from the rapid reaction team of DFA, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) also dispatched augmentation team to assist in the repatriation.

Meanwhile, the government has already assisted and repatriated 40 OFWs from war-torn Libya.
