All government offices with Government-wide Email System (GovMail) accounts may continue communicating and collaborating with each other and with their stakeholders amid the enhanced community quarantine through the use of advanced features including video-conferencing for free until July 1, 2020.

Officials and employees may conduct online meetings for up to 250 participants per call, participate in live streaming for up to 100,000 viewers, and also record and save meetings.

This allows and helps offices carry out their duties and perform their operations even in work from home arrangements.

GovMail is the official email service for government agencies. It provides data integrity in electronic communications and transactions by providing gov.ph domains to National Government Agencies, Local Government Units, Government-Owned and Controlled Corporations, Government Financial Institutions, and other government projects.

“The DICT has been continuously seeking ways to improve its programs and services to help the working public go about with their functions through the use of information and communication technologies amid the enhanced community quarantine. The migration to cloud based GovMail which started last year proves to be more useful especially for remote government operations. Coordination between government agencies are more organized resulting to faster responses benefitting their constituents,” DICT Assistant Secretary for Digital Philippines Emmanuel Rey Caintic said.

Last year, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) worked with Kollab Guru Group, Inc. in migrating the GovMail System to G Suite, a cloud-based electronic system by Google Cloud. The collaboration resulted in a better and more secure communication platform available 24/7, with new and useful features and less possible downtimes.

GovMail is one of the projects of the DICT towards achieving a digital government under the Digital Philippines initiative. Through such projects, the DICT envisions a more interconnected, harmonized, and transparent government with improved and more efficient public service delivery.
