MANILA – Inamin ng Department of Energy (DOE) na nadagdagan pa ang mga planta ng kuryente sa Luzon na hindi umaandar, kaya asahan talaga ang rotational brownout sa ilang bahagi ng rehiyon.
Ayon sa DOE, nagkaroon ng “unplanned outage” ang GMEC Coal-Fired Power Plant 2 sa Mariveles, Bataan kaninang alas-3:56 ng umaga.
“GMEC Coal-Fired Power Plant Unit 2 (316 MW) has been declared unavailable due to a suspected boiler tube leak. The plant is expected to be back online by 8 June 2021.”
Ang aberya sa naturang planta ng kuryente ang nagdulot ng mas mahabang yellow at red alert sa Luzon ngayong araw.
Dahil dito, umakyat pa sa 1,579-megawatts ang kabuuang forced outage ng kuryente sa Luzon grid.
Mas mataas mula sa 1,285-megawatts total forced outaged nitong Lunes.
Una nang sinabi ng Energy department na nagkaroon ng boiler tube leak o aberya sa GNPower Plant Unit 1. Bukod dito, may “planned outage” ang San Roque Hydroelectric Power Plant.
Dagdag ng DOE, may ilang planta ng kuryente rin ang nag-extend ng kanilang planned outage tulad ng Sual Unit 2, GNPower Mariveles, at Sem-Calaca Power Plant.
“Mukhang matatagalan yung restoration, so there’s a possibility that this yellow and red alert will last for the next couple of days,” ani Asec. Redentor Delola.
Pinadalhan na raw ng report ng ahensya ang Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC), Philippine Competition Commission at Department of Justice.
“Considering its long term strategy of addressing the power supply and demand situation during the summer season.”
Kumikilos na rin umano ang ahensya para magkaroon ng pangmatagalang tugon ang gobyerno sa sitwasyon.
Ilan sa mga hakbang na ginawa na ng DOE ay ang pagbubukas ng Competitive Selection Process policy para sa makapag-sumite ng requirement sa bagong investments ang mga distribution utilities.
Naglabas na rin ang ahensya ng moratorium sa mga bagong coal-fired power plants para magkaroon sila ng “system flexibility.”
Gayundin ng polisiya para sa Ancillary Services (AS) para siguradong tutugon ang National Grid Corporation of the Philippines sa requirements ng AS.
“Being a performance issue, the DOE likewise calls on the ERC to look into these outages and exercise its regulatory functions as the energy family continues to work together to ensure the continuity of power services during these challenging times.”
