NONITO DONAIRE

Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire Jr., came up short of rewriting his own record after falling short against Alexandro Santigao of Mexico via unanimous decision for the vacant WBC Bantamweight World Championship belt.

The referees scored the match, 115-113 and two 116-112 all in favor of Santiago who won his first-ever boxing’s world title.

The age gap proved to be the difference as the 27-year old Mexican outworked the 40-year old living legend of the Philippines.

“It’s been an honour to fight such a legend like Nonito Donaire,” Santiago said after the fight.

On the other hand, although disappointed Donaire still felt good as his love for the sport remained alive.

Will this be the last time we see Donaire wear the gloves professionally? The four-division world champion is uncertain yet.
