The first of the ten Tourist Rest Areas (TRAs) that were started last year was officially opened by Christina Garcia Frasco, secretary of the Department of Tourism, on July 10.
The TRA, which has the support of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., serves as a resource for information on tourist destinations, activities, and lodging options while also offering facilities for convenience and safety, such as sanitary restrooms.
Fransco highlighted the significance of such facilities, citing the presence of charging stations, seats, souvenir stores with local crafts, and free-to-use clean restrooms and showers, in enriching travelers’ journeys.
Medillin Mayor, Joven Mopndigo Jr. expressed his gratitude for the town’s selection as TRA site, emphasizing the role of tourism in boosting local development.
