Maaaring sa buwan ng Nobyembre o Disyembre na umano mag-umpisa ang malawakang COVID-19 vaccination sa Estados Unidos.
Pahayag ito ni Dr. Anthony Fauci, director ng National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, kasunod ng pagpalo sa 7-milyon ng mga kumpirmadong kaso ng COVID-19 sa Amerika.
Sa kabila nito, sinabi ni Fauci na matatagalan pa bago bumalik sa dati ang lahat.
“By the time you get enough people vaccinated so that you can feel you’ve had an impact enough on the outbreak, so that you can start thinking about maybe getting a little bit more towards normality, that very likely, as I and others have said, will be maybe the third quarter or so of 2021. Maybe even into the fourth quarter,” wika ni Fauci sa isang panayam.
Inilahad ni Fauci na dahil sa iba’t ibang bakuna na dine-develop, posibleng magkaroon ng hanggang 700-milyong doses ang US pagsapit ng Abril 2021.
Ngunit hindi lamang aniya ang availability ng vaccine ang factor na maaaring ikonsidera.
“In our society, it likely will be that many people will not want to get the vaccine right away and want to wait to see what happens with the first 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 million people,” ani Fauci.
Ayon pa kay Fauci, malabo raw na magkaroon ng papel ang pulitika sa proseso ng pag-apruba sa COVID-19 vaccine.
“If you look at the standard process of how these things work, I think you could feel comfortable that it is really unlikely that that’s going to happen,” anang opisyal. “I trust the career scientists of FDA, and I certainly trust the commissioner of FDA.” (CNN)
