The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) continues to improve its disaster relief response by checking and updating the facilities and resources of the Operation Center of the Philippine Red Cross.
DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian wants to ensure that the department has the best way to respond and give assistance immediately to people in need during disasters.
Further, the goal of the department as emphasized by the secretary was to apply the existing and notable command center in DSWD as part of upgrading the disaster response of the agency.
It can be remembered that DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian said that as he assumed office, he will focus on the department enhancing logistics by setting up warehouses not just in regional offices but also in municipalities, he will also ask for help from the private sector as they have a strong network and good mechanism in disaster response.
