Iginagalang daw ni Health Sec. Francisco Duque ang panawagan ng ilang senador na magbitiw siya sa pwesto, sa gitna ng hinaharap na krisis ng Pilipinas sa COVID-19 pandemic.
Pero aminado ang kalihim na nasaktan siya sa ginawang hakbang ng Senate majority lalo na’t mas kailangan umano ngayon ng pagkakaisa laban sa pagkalat ng sakit.
“It is very unfortunate and I’m really hurt that at this time the Senate is calling for my resignation, when in fact we need to come together because we need to unite. We have such a formidable enemy, this is a war, this is World War III and this is against an invisible enemy,” ani Duque sa virtual meeting kasama ang ilang miyembro ng House committee.

Sana raw ay nagpasalamat o tumanaw man lang ng pagkilala ang mga mambabatas sa ginagawang efforts ng ahensya mula noong pumutok ang outbreak sa bansa.
Iginiit ng Health secretary na ipagpapatuloy pa rin niya ang kanyang pamumuno sa DOH at Inter-Agency Task Force hangga’t pinagkakatiwalaan siya ni Pangulong Duterte.
“The Senate’s call for my resignation is a fair opinion, we respect the fair opinion but this I have to say–I serve at the pleasure of the President and for as long as he continues to put his trust and confidence in my capabilities, I will lead the DOH and the IATF in putting forward a very effective response against COVID-19 in this country.”
