President Rodrigo Duterte told “friend” China to stay away from Pag-asa Island otherwise things would be different.

Duterte made the statement following confirmation of Western Mindanao Command to the presence of hundred of Chinese vessels belonging to China maritime militia around Pag-asa Island.

Last night, President Duterte attended the PDP-Laban campaign rally in Puerto Princesa, Palawan where he asserted that Pag-asa Island is “ours and we have been there since 1974.”

“No, I’m trying to tell China, ‘yung Pag-asa is ours. We have been there 1974. Kung inyo ‘yan, bakit hindi ninyo pinaalis kami? So let us be friends but do not touch Pag-asa Island and the rest. Otherwise — otherwise things would be different,” Duterte said.

Duterte said, this not a warning neither a plead or beg too, but he is just telling China to layoff Pag-asa Island because there are Filipino soldiers in the island.

“At ‘pag ‘yan ang ginalaw ninyo, ibang istorya na ‘yan. (And if you touch Pag-asa Island, it would be a different story.) ‘Di sabihin ko na ‘yang mga sundalo ko, “prepare for suicide missions”. (I will tell my soldiers to prepare for suicide missions),” Duterte added.
